This Privacy Policy explains how Neurotransmission ("we") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Neurotransmission (the "Site", https://neurotransmission.net).

Information we collect

  • Account data: your chosen handle, email address, and a securely hashed
  • password (we never store your password in plaintext).

  • Content you create: ratings, reviews, comments, votes, and the entities you
  • watch/favorite.

  • Communications: your digest preferences (cadence, enabled/disabled).
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) and
  • cookies/session tokens needed to keep you signed in.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we use it

  • To operate your account and the community features (ratings, reviews, votes, watches).
  • To send the digests you opt into (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To secure the Site, prevent abuse, debug, and monitor errors.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

How we share it

We share data only with service providers that help us run the Site, under appropriate safeguards:

  • Amazon โ€” affiliate links (see affiliate-disclosure.md).
  • PubMed / NCBI โ€” research material is linked from public sources.
  • Email provider โ€” to deliver digests and account email.
  • Error/operational monitoring โ€” to capture errors and keep the Site reliable.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the Site and its users.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication/sessions. We do not use them for third-party advertising.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. Data retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Public contributions (reviews, comments, votes) may persist in aggregate/anonymized form after deletion where needed for Site integrity. Logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging.

Security

Passwords are hashed; secrets are stored in environment/secret management, never in our code. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
