Fish oil
Fish oil provides the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Evidence is strong for lowering triglycerides and mixed-to-modest for depression (with EPA-predominant formulas performing best as an adjunct). Large trials have largely not supported routine fish oil for preventing cardiovascular events or cognitive decline in well-nourished populations. It is generally safe.
Too little may be associated with
Less omega-3 support.
Too much may be associated with
High doses: bleeding risk, GI upset.
