Leptin
The satiety hormone secreted by fat cells that signals energy sufficiency to the brain, suppressing appetite. Chronically high levels can blunt the brain's response (leptin resistance).
Too little may be associated with
Intense hunger and low energy expenditure (rare congenital deficiency).
Too much may be associated with
Leptin resistance, in which high levels no longer curb appetite (common in obesity).
