Melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone that signals darkness and helps set the circadian clock. It is genuinely useful for circadian problems โ jet lag and delayed sleep-phase โ and modestly shortens time to fall asleep, but it is a weak hypnotic and not a strong treatment for chronic insomnia. It appears safe short-term; long-term effects and optimal dosing are less certain, and product content varies.
